ST. MICHAEL'S PAIN & SPINE CLINICS MISSION.
1-Commitment to excellence in patient care. 2-Support of the good health of the communities we serve. 3-Commitment to providing outstanding service through the entire continuum of care from evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and coordination of multidisciplinary care and disease prevention. 4-Use of the best clinical practices and the most advanced technology while providing a warm and inviting atmosphere conducive to the well-being of our patients.
OUR PHILOSOPHY: We believe each patient's pain is unique. Therefore, treatments are specially designed for the specific back pain cause or causes for each patient in particular after a thorough Neurological examination. We make it a priority to take sufficient time to fully explain the plan to each patient, the final authority and decision maker. We avoid use of opioids (narcotics) or surgery whenever possible. As mentioned, we focus on medical science, not "one treatment fits all" techniques.

WHY WE GET EXCELLENT OUTCOMES: Our success is based on the premise that we offer not one but a spectrum of successful options to reduce pain and avoid surgery. New and emerging treatments and techniques are constantly researched by us; whenever a treatment shows to be safe and better than a "sugar pill" or placebo, it becomes part of our program. BACK PAIN TREATMENT HOUSTON, TEXAS
Please click and watch our videos on the "Services" page (or read our PAIN REPORT) to learn more about these methods. You may be amazed at the simplicity, safety and accuracy of these modalities for back pain relief and back pain treatment which are available right here in Houston at the heart of the Texas Medical Center area. Most procedures do not require hospital admission and last only 5-20 minutes. In our clinics, they are only and always performed by a specialist MD physician who is Board Certified in Pain Medicine and Neurology and formally trained in an accredited fellowship program in the United States. Almost always, techniques are performed under highly accurate image guidance (fluoroscopy or CT scan), providing extreme precision and safety to the patient (as opposed to "blind" procedures or injections). See our page explaining our approach to carpal tunnel syndrome treatment without surgery. Many of these methods can also be used for pain management and pain relief in conditions other than back pain or neck pain. In fact, they are very effective for certain types of head pain, facial pain, complex regional pain syndromes, cranial neuropathies and other more rare pain disorders. One exciting proven approach which has given pain relief to patients with chronic pain is spinal cord stimulation. This exciting and powerful technology is extremely effective for treatment of arm or leg pain due to nerve root impingments by herniated discs, sciatica, pinched nerves, radiculopathy, complex regional pain syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, phantom limb syndrome and other conditions associated with nerve generated pain.
WHAT WE DON'T DO: We avoid the use of opioids when the cause of the pain can be treated. We do not use "one fits all" fashionable procedures or treatments such as "laser", "spinal decompression", "VAX-D", etc. indiscriminately, because the causes of pain are very distinct from patient to patient. All options, however, are on the table if clinically indicated. We aim at avoiding surgery whenever possible.
